
Rev. Dr. Byron L. Benton
Senior Pastor
The Rev. Dr. Byron L. Benton serves as the Senior Pastor of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church located in North Charleston, South Carolina. He works closely with public and private institutions, serves on and advises various boards, and speaks across the country on critical issues that impact families. His commitment to community and families is evident throughout his ministry. He is a board member for the African American Chamber Fund – a newly founded ten-million-dollar loan program designed to make low-cost capital available to African American Chamber of Commerce member business owners and entrepreneurs across the United States. He is an advisor to The Four Rivers Outreach Community Development Corporation in Charleston, South Carolina and founder and host of the Mountaintop Manna Podcast.

Rev. Dr. Augustus D. Robinson, Jr.
Pastor Emeritus
Pastor Robinson and his wife, Ruth, are the proud parents of four children and grandparents of seven grandchildren. Pastor Robinson has served as Senior Pastor at Mount Moriah from October 1990 to December 2012. Pastor Robinson’s compassionate teaching, spiritual guidance and his unique ability to simplify the word of God has produced many saints for Christ throughout the world.
Rev. Dr. Darrell Ravenell
Worship & Arts Pastor
Dr. Da’rrell Ravenell is a visionary, Worship & Arts Pastor, educator, best-selling co-author, and musician with over two decades of experience in ministry and higher education. He serves at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, leading with a commitment to structure, excellence, and spiritual growth, grounded in the belief that effective ministry flows from identity, clarity, and accountability—not personality.
Dr. Ravenell is also a professor at Charleston Southern University, where he made history by establishing the institution’s first accredited Gospel Choir course, shaping the future of collegiate gospel music.
He holds an Associate degree from Trident Technical College, a Bachelor’s degree from Charleston Southern University, and both a Master’s and Doctorate from Liberty University.
Dr. Ravenell is also a professor at Charleston Southern University, where he made history by establishing the institution’s first accredited Gospel Choir course, shaping the future of collegiate gospel music.

REV. MICHELLE MITCHELL
Youth Pastor
Rev. Mitchell is the mother of Avery Mitchell-the one who puts the curl in her smile. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was seventeen because she new a relationship with Christ was the peace she needed in her life. Rev Mitchell has been a member of Mount Moriah since 1997 and currently serves as the Youth Minister.
